Speedometer doesnt work after jumping car when it died?

My car died after I left the headlights on. I jumped it with another car and drove it to work this morning. But now my speedometer doesn't work. So I banged on the dash, and then a light poped up to get it serviced.when I got to work, I shut off my car and the service light stayed on. What do I do????
